Vanuatu Fiji or Bali
Well Fiji has been such a popular destination for so long but after what has happened there over the last week will more travelers choose to visit Vanuatu or will they still go to Bali in Droves.
With Todays economic downturn and this latest action by the Government Fiji's Tourism has hit a major hurdle and this will probably be the nail in the coffin and I cant see it recovering for along time.
Bali's Tourism is at its highest level ever with Australians flocking there... Australian travelers to Bali during the first two months of 2009 totaled 48,068 a 34.64% increase over the same period in 2008 (35,701).
South East Asia is cheap, has great food, amazing cultures and great weather. There are so many cheap flights hitting those areas and many deals on offer.
For the Gen X and Gen Y it has become a no brainer as to where to visit.
The South Pacific is a beautiful place, but if the Area wants to jump up to the plate and try and attract more Tourist away from Asia then it really needs to do some dramatic changes in its New Media and Marketing to make it a viable proposition for the Tourist.
If it keeps promoting itself like it does then tourist $$$ they are targeting will be coming from an Older crowd.. I have nothing against that but for South Pacific Tourism to become cool and attract a younger demographic crowd it needs more than a few websites and Brochures.. These are great but so Old Skool.
Things will become very hard over the next 12 months and many Business's relying on tourist dollar will strugle. Some will stay afloat and some will sink.
Hopefully The Beautiful South Pacific will keep treading water long enough until the No's start to flow through the airports again.
Peace :)

Luxury Villa Vanuatu: Beach House
Beach House in Vanuatu, Pacific Islands.
Luxury Villa Vanuatu - LVV, is one of the South Pacific's premier locations fronting the ocean ten minutes from historic Bauerfield Airport in the country's capital Port Vila. Unlike villas in Bali and Thailand where space is at a minimum, LVV is set on two acres of carefully landscaped and manicured gardens tended by three full time gardeners. The villa itself is unique with wide vistas to the ocean. It is 400 square metres in size and open plan with sliding doors to allow the trade winds in to refresh the house.
There is an indoor pool, steps from each bedroom and the kitchen, which is open to the sun, moon and swaying palm trees. There are three luxury bedrooms with high quality italian fittings, Sheridan linen, airconditioning, Andrea Smith artwork and king size beds. The kitchen is of a commercial size with Miele oven, gastop and dishwasher. There is an office above the kitchen that commands superb views to the ocean.
LVV also has a gymnasium that can double as a bedroom, two ocean reef pools with decks, car, 20 square metre dining and lunch fare and four staff. LVV is the ultimate in villa getaways.

Pacific ring of fire eruption
Tonga, a 170-island archipelago about halfway between Australia and Tahiti, is part of the Pacific "ring of fire" — an arc of earthquake and volcanic zones stretching from Chile in South America through Alaska and down through Vanuatu to Tonga. The volcano began erupting on Monday and ejected so much lava that by Wednesday it had formed the island about seven miles off the coast of Tongatapu, the main island of Tonga.

Organic Coconuts in tropical Vanuatu

Vanuatu : Central Markets
The Markets are a colourful, noisy and vibrant place where you can see and buy local produce and artefacts. The produce is fresh, organic, and cheap and it tastes just like fruit used to taste when you were a kid.
Vanuatu : Cascade waterfall
A visit to Mele Cascades waterfall is an amazing experience. You can swim under the cascade itself or in any of the 5 pools which all are an outpouring of a deep underground spring with water that is cool, clear and refreshing.
